Holiday Itinerary

This fantastic 7 night/8 day surf holiday is based in a fabulous surf lodge, complete with patios, a pool, and hammocks for lounging, all 5 minutes from the beach. Mimizan is located in a surfer's paradise on the green Atlantic, with ideal sand bars for beginners, and big beautiful waves for the advanced.

Whether you are new to surfing or an experienced rider looking for the best spots, the excellent surf instructors at the surf camp will ensure you get the right waves for your level by picking the right surf spots daily.

Groups are kept small so that instructors can ensure personal tuition and for 8 days you’ll have 6 hours total of surf lessons in the mornings and supervised, hands on surf time in the afternoons so you’ll be catching your first waves in no time!

You will also be assigned your own board, wetsuit and beach cruiser bicycle to use during your whole stay to make the most of your time on your surf holiday in France and give you the flexibility to practise your new found surf skills in your free time.

Accommodation is set in the laid back, cosy lodge, nestled in green surroundings. The lodge boasts a variety of shared rooms, a heated pool, BBQ, WiFi, and bean bags and hammocks to ensure a dynamic group atmosphere. Everyone eats together for breakfast and in the evenings enjoying a diverse abundance of amazing food cooked by local chefs whilst relaxing in this serene green spot.

Mimizan Plage has its own warmth and charm, providing you with a bit of cafe and bar culture to unwind in the evenings. You will make new friends for life in a short period of time as you learn to ride the waves and explore this idyllic area of South West France on this surf holiday of a lifetime.

Who is it suitable for?
- Suitable for all levels from complete beginners to those that have surfed before and are looking to perfect their technique
- Must be able to swim
- Minimum age 23
- Please note: some weeks are only suitable for those aged over 30, please contact us if you are under 30 to make sure your chosen date is suitable for you
- Surfing is great fun for everyone but it’s best to bear in mind that it can be physically demanding sometimes

I'm travelling solo - can I join?
- These surf holidays make great singles holidays as rooms are shared (with 4-6 others) so you don’t have to pay a single supplement
- Alternatively, if you would like own private room for a single supplement, please contact to check availability

Can I bring a non-participating partner?
- Non-participating partners are welcome to join you and share a room for reduced price
- The price includes a shared room with a surfing partner, 5 delicious evening meals and all breakfasts

When can I start?
- Holidays run from set dates in May to October and begin on Saturdays
- The surf school will be closed from October to May
- Surfing holidays are for 7 nights/8 days
- If dates appear ‘on request’, please email us and we’ll check availability for your preferred day of arrival as quickly as possible

Over the age of 30?
If you are over 30 years of age and would like to attend a surf camp with those of a similar age, this surf camp run special over 30's surf programmes on specific dates.

Typical itinerary
The itinerary is for guidance only and is subject to change depending on the group’s needs and wishes but is typically as follows:

- 8am: Wake from a good night’s sleep to the smell of freshly baked bread and either stay in bed, go for a quick surf session or join the daily yoga lesson to awaken your body for the day ahead
- 9am: Sit down to a delicious healthy breakfast in the sun
- 11am: Grab your wetsuit, attach your board to the bike and head off on a quick cycle to the beach for your daily surf lesson; warm up on the beach before hitting the waves of the Atlantic Ocean
- 1pm: Grab a baguette on the way home and spend the start of the afternoon relaxing in the garden or having a dip in the swimming pool
- 4pm: If you have the energy, head back to the ocean with your new friends from the lodge and practise the surfing techniques you learnt that morning
- 7pm: Enjoy a well-earned dinner prepared for you by the chef around the campfire

About your surf instructors
- All surf instructors are certified through the International Surfing Association (ISA)
- They are qualified as both lifeguard and instructor, and are present all week to teach beginners and advanced surfers during lessons
- Instructors have been specially selected for their teaching skills and passion for surfing
- Your experience is at the heart of what they do and every instructor wants to ensure you have a great time, sharing their excellent local knowledge with you
- They will be there to tailor and create the experience to your needs and level to make sure you get the most from your surfing tuition

About the equipment
- As a guest at the lodge, you may use surfboards, wetsuits and bodyboards all week for free
- You will get your own beach cruiser bicycle with board rack to cycle to the beach whenever you want and go surfing at the spot you like before and after the lessons
- Remember, surfing uses up a lot of energy so make sure you make plenty of time to relax in between!

What will I learn?
- As a beginner you will learn the following:
Elementary water safety
To understand your surfboard
Theory lessons on types of breaks, surf board design, equipment and history
How to control the board in the water
Where and how to position yourself to catch a wave
How to clear the breaking zone and deal with white water
Line up positioning
How to paddle to catch the waves 
How to balance standing and lying on the board
How to stand on your board beginning with a knees to standing action (slower) to mastering a ‘pop up’
How to catch green waves (the wave just before it breaks)
- More advanced surfers will be shown the best breaks and will be taken to more challenging spots to surf during the week

Accommodation and meals
- Accommodation is set in an idyllic surf lodge surrounded by lush green, just 5 minutes from the beach
- The lodge offers 9 spacious, bright rooms to accommodate 2- 6 people
- There are some private showers, 4 communal showers, and 5 WCs throughout
- Prices are based on shared rooms and bathrooms and you’ll share with 4-6 others
- Check in on day 1 any time (your room will not be ready until 5pm) and check out on day 8 by 10am
- The linens are included but towels can be rented for a fee of €10.00 each
- WiFi available throughout the property
- The lovely lodge gardens has a beautiful heated pool, hammocks and bean bags throughout, along with a bar and BBQ
- Friendly and hospitable staff are on hand throughout the day at the surf camp
- You will be served breakfast and dinner in the sunny lodge garden
- Breakfast is served daily and will consist of fresh brewed coffee and tea, home made breads, toppings, daily surprise specials, yogurt, granola and fruit
- Dinner will be served in the evening but is NOT included in the price; it is optional and you can book it on arrival
- Free parking at the lodge
- Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any specific dietary requirements and the school will do their utmost to accommodate your requirements

What can I do in my free time?
- Life is easy at the lodge and it offers you a great opportunity to relax in the sun, or lounge in the pool and gardens
- Walk the Boulevard by night and stop for a drink or a bite with your friends
- Take your bike to the beach and improve your surfing skills
- Relax in the evenings by the bonfire
